Thailand.

We travelled to Thailand on the 7th February and came back home on the 3rd March. It was amazing to be in Thailand for 3 weeks especially that it was first ever holiday abroad. I spent the holiday with my partner, two daughters and my partners parents and we all stayed in my partners parents house in Thailand. They go over to Thailand every 3 months as they have a house there to stay. Thailand is a beautiful stunning place to go. We stayed in Hua Hin which is about 3 hours away from Bangkok.

One of my main worries was that the weather was going to be too hot for me and the girls but we coped. The hottest day was around 34 degrees with a feel factor of 40 degrees. The girls were great all through the holidays but with a few tempers here and there but hey! they're kids! We went out for food every lunch time and most evenings for tea but me and my partner stayed home with the girls some evenings too and just had a takeaway. I have gained over half a stone since being on holiday but determined to get it all off within the next 2 weeks.

It was amazing seeing how people lived. Either they lived in nice houses or they lived in shed-like buildings, it was really interesting. Everyone was so kind and they were all fascinated with Elliw because of her white skin. Quite a few even wanted a photo of her and even took Selfies with her! Mia was too shy. I got to learn that Kap-Kun-Ka means thank you and Sawadee Ka means hello and thank you (i think!). Elliw learnt the words pretty quick and even said Sawadee Ka to few Thai people and they loved it. There were no walls on most of the restraunts there, they were all open.

Me and Iwan had one night where we went out drinking. We went out quite late around 11pm after the girls were put to bed and his parents were in the house with them. I wish we would have gone out sooner to enjoy it a bit more but it was a good night. We tried to do a few things and tried to make the most of it, I tried a lot of new things whilst i was there. I went on a motorbike with my partner which i have never done before! I tried different foods and my favourite was Sticky rice with Mango, Chicken with cashew nuts and Fried garlic with chicken. I even went for a 2 hour Thai Massage, I'm not sure if i will go again because it really did hurt! If i was to go again i would ask for a gentle massage so i could relax and enjoy it more.

One of the best things on the holiday was going to the outside Swimming Pool every single day! It was so relaxing and I loved it! We managed to get Elliw in and we taught her to swim too! she loved it. I'm a bit sad Mia wouldn't try it because she used to really love Swimming when she was a bit younger.

It was really interesting being there for 3 weeks, watching how they live and how things work in their country. Took me a while to understand their money but i understood in the end. The roads are so different to our roads, looks a lot more dangerous and feels it too! There are so many scooters and motorbikes because the cars there are so expensive. There were scooters/motorbikes driving down the wrong side of the road most days, you had to have eyes everywhere when you're driving there.

We decided to celebrate Elliw's birthday a day before we set off home. So we went out for food with some neighbours and we got Elliw an Ice Cream cake - first time I've ever tried it and it was lovely. Elliw enjoyed it too!

  1. Lovely photos. We went to Thailand 10 years ago, and reading your post has really brought back memories - how hot is was, being able to swim outdoors in the warmth and those crazy motor-bikes and tuks tuks. And how the night life goes on till all hours! You are so brave going so far for your first family holiday abroad - well done! Looks like you all enjoyed yourselves :-) #mummymonday Sabrina xx

  4. It looks amazing! I would love to visit Thailand, we were meant to go on our honeymoon, but were asked to change destination after the trouble there that year. It must be fantastic to go over knowing that you can use your partners parents house and the girls look really happy! We had a similar thing about people wanting to touch my skin and hair when I was in Ghana for my uni dissertation, they don't often see such fair people close up and were really interested. Even in Italy several people wanted to ruffle O's hair as it's white blonde and curly. Love all your photos!
