Family Meal at The Beeches, Wrexham Review

I was recently asked if I would like to review The Beeches restaurant in Wrexham. I love going out for meals and going for a day out somewhere. I said yes and decided to go on Saturday 19th with my partner, Elliw and my partners parents. Mia was in her Dad's that day she was unable to come with us. We were all looking forward to going out together as we had not been out for food together for quite some time.

When I was looking up for directions to the restaurant I saw some bad reviews but I was hoping I would experience it differently and hoping that with it being newly refurbished, it had improved. The Beeches is part of 'Whitbread Inns'. There was a Premier Inn right next to the restaurant with plenty of parking.

When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcoming straight away. Many restaurants I have been, I have had to wait quite a while to be seated. It was quite nice being able to walk in and to be seated pretty much straight away and not hang around waiting. The lady, who I presume is the manager, was the one who greeted us and took us to our table of 6. She explained a few things to us, gave us a 'Specials' menu and told us who was looking after us today - Emma. She also laid out the food menu's and gave Elliw some activity sheets, crayons and a child's menu.

Emma came up to our table not long after and took orders for drinks. The drinks came pretty quickly which was great as Elliw was getting a little miserable. We were then given another set menu of food. The deal was pretty good, you could buy 2 meals and get a bottle of wine for free for only £18. We had 3 menu's to choose from which was pretty hard! But we all stuck to the main menu.

For our main meals we ordered -
- x2 Sirolin Steak with Peppercorn Sauce
- Mixed Grill
- Lasagne with side salad
- Child's Popcorn chicken, chips and rice
- 2 portions of garlic bread

We waited about 20 minutes for our main meals to arrive. Another lady was serving our meals. As we wanted a few extra things such as mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar and a teaspoon for Elliw, I personally felt she wasn't as welcoming as the other staff that we had met. It felt as she wanted to serve the food and go. The lady who greeted us at the start came up to us a couple of times asking if everything was OK and also had a little chatter with Elliw which she loved.

The main meals were delicious. The steaks were a little to overcooked for what we asked for but it wasn't anything to really complain about and change. My partner's Dad thought the steak didn't have much taste, but I thought it was lovely. My partners Mam really enjoyed her lasagne, so did my partner with his Mixed grill and Elliw enjoyed hers too. The chips were my favourite. They were cooked perfectly and really tasty.

We decided to go for a dessert. Again, we were given a menu too choose from and there was quite a bit of choice. We ordered -
- Sticky Toffee Pudding with custard
- x2 Baked Lemon Cheesecake
- Scary Face Ice Cream (Child)
- Apple & Rhubarb Crumble with Custard

We didn't have to wait too long for the desserts. We were all very shocked with the big portions of the pudding and couldn't wait to tuck in. They all looked and tasted delicious. The portions were well worth the money. My partners Mother would of liked her dessert a little hotter instead of just warm. But other than that, the desserts were great.

The inside of the restaurant was very welcoming and cosy. With the low music playing in the background it was a very calming restaurant and very family-friendly. The newly refurbished design and the way it was all set out was great. Our table was booked at 2pm so it was pretty quiet which was perfect for us and perfect for me to take some photos of the inside for you all to see. After we finished our meals I went to the back of the restaurant which shocked me with how big it was. The grounds were beautiful outside. Perfect for occasions and for the kids to play outside. You would never think that down the road there was a motorway.

Overall ★★★★★
I was very pleased with the welcoming we had the minute we entered the restaurant. The waiting times for the meals were not that long and the food was worth the wait. The portions were great for the price. The staff were very polite and helpful. They were coming up to us every now and then checking that everything was fine.
The restaurant is perfect for families, couples, businesses or just a get together meal. On such beautiful grounds the restaurant is perfect for those few drinks and a meal outside and letting the kids run around. I was overly pleased and will most likely return again in future.
I would also like to say that I was overly pleased with the two staff that I have mentioned in this post. They did a fantastic job.
