The Ordinary Moments - Watching Them Grow

Since I reached the half way mark last Monday it has really made me think that this pregnancy is actually flying by. Just another 4 months to go and our baby boy will be joining and completing our little family. It's still hard to believe that I am carrying a little boy inside of me. The girls are now really excited and for weeks they haven't stopped talking about him and asking many questions about how big is he and if he likes the same food as me and so on. It's all so lovely and getting me and my partner so much more excited to meet him.

The past few months both girls have grown up so quickly. I am not quite sure why, but I have been watching them a lot more closely during the last couple of months. It may be because I know I won't be able to have time just me and the girls for a good while after baby boy is born, so I want the make the most of it right now.

Elliw drew a photo for her Daddy on 12th March and she wrote 'To Dad' backwards, for the first time ever. She has always been delayed in everything such as sitting, walking and talking but she is a clever little girl and I am so proud of her. She really is getting the hang of learning to write and counting. She learns a lot from her big sister, Mia. Mia loves helping her and pretending she is a teacher. It's so funny but so adorable to watch too.

She has become a right handful during the night recently and not settling as well as she did before but we have now put both girls into one room and crossing our fingers it goes well. Whilst I am writing this they have both been in bed for the past half hour and I have only had to tell them to be quiet and go to sleep a few times, which is good! I hope I won't jinx it now though.

She had her parents evening a few weeks ago and they told us she is a very quiet little girl at school and deals well with other children and adults. We were quite worried she wasn't playing well with other children and loosing her temper because at home she can lose her temper so quickly and it's so hard to get her out of it. But she is perfectly fine and the total opposite at school - which I am glad.

Elliw has such a strong personality. She knows what she wants and she wants it there and then. Sometimes she can wait... Sometimes! Depends what kind of mood she is in but me and my partner don't give into her all the time. She absolutely loves her chocolate and jammie dodgers which she calls jimmy jojers! So adorable. She is still into her 'boys' things such as Spiderman, Batman, Dinosaurs and so on. Although she can be pretty girly at times with the way she acts, she is such a tomboy! My little tomboy.

Mia had her parents evening a few days after Elliw's a few weeks ago. She was super shy when she came into the room with me but again, she did me so proud. Her maths is great and so is her writing. Her writing is improving so much and in her previous class she had the neatest handwriting (teacher wrote in her school report). It's so nice seeing Mia so much into her stationary and writing, just like how I was when I was younger (and still am!).

We also got to look at Mia's work books and she was so proud showing her books to me, my partner and Elliw. Her work was really good and again, handwriting was fantastic. She mentioned me, my partner and Elliw so many times in her work which was lovely for us too see. She works well with other children and has great friends at school too.

Mia can have a right attitude problem on her but most of the time she is really good. She is a lot easier to look after than Elliw but every single child is different. I don't like to compare between them. Mia loves role play and pretends she is a teacher most days. She loves being the boss and telling people what to do! She also loves her cuddles and teddies. She loves horses and her dresses. She really is a girly girl.

Watching Mia and Elliw growing up so quickly does make me a little sad but it also makes me so happy because I am so proud of them. Watching their sister bond grow each day and even though they can fight and argue like mad, they can be the sweetest and most loving sisters. I am really happy that I have been able to watch my girls grow and still there for them. I didn't have a mother figure whilst I was growing up so I wanted to make sure my girls know that I will be there for them any time of day or night. I want them to know that they are my world and I love them both so much.

Knowing there is a little boy joining our family in just four months makes me nervous but really excited. He is going to complete our family. The girls are going to love it when he arrives and I  can not wait to see how they are with him and watching him grow along side his two beautiful big sisters.

  1. I have 3 in the same proportions as you are about to be, though mine are now 10, 7 and 4. I remember thinking "What am I going to do with a boy?" towards the end of my pregnancy, but J was more than a little relieved not to be so outnumbered by all us girlies! xx

  2. Aw such an emotional post and it is crazy how fast they grow isn't it? My girls have grown so much the last few months, I wonder if it is when you are pregnant and you start to imagine life with a baby that they seem to grow so much quicker? These are lovely photos too and I bet you were really proud of them at parents evening. x

  3. What a lovely post and some absolutely gorgeous photos too. I always think about how much the kids are growing - sometimes it feels like they slip through my fingers. It's Reuben's birthday tomorrow too (he's 5!) and it just feels like yesterday he was born xx

  8. What lovely photos I think they really capture your girls personality and their bond with you. Good luck with your imminent arrival. It will be really interesting to see how adding a boy into the mix will work. I'm sure his big sisters will love him to bits.
