Big Yellow Flower

Friday late afternoon my girls arrived home and Mia came straight up to me and said "here is a flower for you! it's a big yellow flower!" How many flowers I have had over the years of being a Mum I honestly can not remember. I am sure all parents can agree with that too. What usually happens is you get given a flower and after getting so used to it, you secretly try and drop it without them noticing or your pocket is just full of daisies or other flowers.

This week made me think a little different about this flower. I have been in and out hospital Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I have been in pain, I've been unwell and stuck on a heart monitor for 24 hours. My pregnancy at 29 weeks wasn't all that great. This is why this particular flower meant something to me. It's made me change my mind about these flowers I get given by my girls. Last week Elliw held onto a flower for a while from school until she came home. She was so excited to give me a little daisy.

I think because I feel I haven't been with them as often as I am this week it's really made me feel different about these flowers. A child has no money. They can't go to the shop and buy you what they want to buy you. They can't magically buy you something special. But that something special may come from the grass at the park, next door neighbours garden, your own garden or on the side of the path on your walk somewhere. They pick up a flower. Out of everyone they know, who did they want to give the flower too? You. Now that is special. That is priceless. The thought of them picking that flower up knowing they want to give it too you. It does make my heart melt and I felt so grateful when I received that lovely big yellow flower and I will make sure to appreciate the rest much more.

My littlest girl often gives me them as well bless her. I am sorry to hear you haven't been well and I hope you are feeling better now. xx
