Family Holiday at Hafan Y Mor, Pwllheli

For many months my partner and I have been thinking about booking a weekend away somewhere but we just didn't know where. We both started to think about a Haven holiday as we thought it may be great for the kids and that is what we wanted. We then thought about inviting some friends and their kids with us too. We all booked a caravan for the 7th of October until the 10th of October. The girls were so excited. The location was only about 30 minutes or less from where we live and with Freddie being so young and our friends babies' being near the same age as Freddie and their other youngest just 1 years old, we thought the closest one would be best.

On the Friday we took the girls to school as normal. During the school hours I packed and tidied the house (in between feeds and entertaining Freddie). My partner arrived home around 1.30pm so that was a big help. I didn't have to worry about the school run at 3pm, so I tried my best to get everything done. We were all packed and out of the house by 5.30pm - a little later than we hoped but we got there in the end. We arrived at the family park by 6pm.

The girls were super excited when they saw the caravan we were staying in. I was shocked at how nice it looked. It had a beautiful living space with an open kitchen and dining area. It also had 3 bedrooms, 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds already with children's bed covers and then there was a double room for us that also looked lovely. There were two toilets, one in the hallway with the shower and the other toilet was in our bedroom.

On the first night we went to the restaurant, Mash and Barrell for food and it was lovely. We had a lovely and polite waiter who interacted well with all the kids. I would really recommend the restaurant if you ever visited. We then decided to go to the other side to where all the arcades and entertainment was. We stayed out until late, then decided to go back to the caravan, ready for the next day.

On Saturday we took the kids to the area they could play football/basketball. We then went to the big park which was near the Mash and Barrell restaurant. After a few hours we decided to head back to our friends caravan for some lunch. After lunch everyone except my friend, the babies I, got ready for swimming. The girls were so excited. The pool was open from 2.45pm until 5.45pm. After swimming we went back to our caravan and my partner cooked us all food at the caravan to save some money. Elliw started to get really tired, so after food we decided to try her for a nap but when we were all ready to leave, Elliw wouldn't wake up, so I decided to stay in the caravan with Elliw, Freddie and my friends 1 year old who was also fast asleep, whilst everyone else went to the arcades and entertainment.

Sunday morning we woke up a little later than we planned but we managed to do a few activities that day. The kids, my partner and my friends partner went roller skating, mini golf and the entertainment in the evening. We also went swimming and it was Freddie's first time. The pool was a bit cold so we didn't stay long but he loved it. It was so lovely seeing him float in the water in the swimming float seat he was in. He looked quite confused but he loved it.

Monday morning we woke up pretty early and decided to pack everything up and clean the whole caravan before heading out somewhere. It took us a few hours, with me feeding in between. We went for a walk towards the beach, the views were amazing and we all really enjoyed the walk. The kids played on the beach for a bit before heading back for lunch. We decided to have a Burger King before everyone went swimming, except my friend, myself and the babies. Whilst everyone else went swimming my friend and I went to the entertainment area to sit down and chat.

When everyone arrived back we waited for the entertainment which the kids loved. Elliw went up on the dance floor and danced away. She loved every single minute and was amazed over the puppets. She really enjoyed herself and I felt so proud watching her dance and seeing how confident she was.

The holiday was amazing and we all really enjoyed ourselves. The girls can't wait to go and stay in a caravan again in a few months. It was really nice to have a chilled and relaxed holiday. I thought it was going to be a little stressful but it wasn't. Freddie was really good and slept a lot more than he usually does, which really helped. He loved all the lights and noise during the entertainment nights. We all can't wait to go again.

  1. I believe you had a great time together.
We went a couple of years ago, and it is one of the best Haven sites that we have been to, definitely worth a visit.

  6. Looks like you had a really great time, and to be honest if the children are happy and enjoying themselves it really does make your time away much easier and memorable. Looks like there was alot to do too, especially in the evening which allows you to have some downtime, too,
