BLOGGING TIPS

As it is coming to my 2 year blog-anniversary I am going to post a few tips about my experience of Blogging. I get so many people asking me what is blogging and how do I do it. The most popular question I get asked is 'How do I get paid?' and 'How do I get free things?'. Well I won't lie, I put ALOT of hard work and effort into my blog and I really appreciate being able to work with such amazing companies in these past 2 years and to get paid with some things too is just a bonus.

I started blogging primarily for my two daughters so they could look back when they are older. Even though I still blog for my daughters it has grown to be a little bit more than that. It has become something that I can give people tips, advice and it has given me the chance to work with some amazing companies. I have also read and found some amazing bloggers who I read often.

HOW TO START A BLOG
Let's start with 'How to start your own blog'. It's pretty simple really, you can start up by using Blogger or Wordpress. I have only got experience with using Blogger so if I am honest I wouldn't have a clue if you'd ask me anything about Wordpress. To start with you will need to think of an unique name that describes your and your life. I chose 'Life-As-Mum' because I knew my blog was going to be about motherhood and parenting, also i'm a mum! The name fitted me perfectly. You can read more about 'Start Blogging Today' on a previous post of mine here.

BLOG ON THE GO
Every blogger has a phone and even when we go out we still have our blog in our heads! Such as if we see something that would make a great photo or a great post we will write it down and that is usually in our phones. Another thing which is great for blogging on the go is Social Media. Whilst your out or sitting in the passenger seat of the car then you can just have a little nosey on your Social Media and e-mails on your phone. You can see some top iPhone for bloggers over at Activities4Kidz here.

BLOGGERS AND PHOTOGRAPHY
One main thing you will need to do/learn before starting a blog is taking good photos. They don't have to be perfect and they don't have to be professional but as long as they catch someones eye that is good enough. Emma writes about her Blog Props here. There are also some fantastic tips over at Kerry's Blog Oh So Amelia which you can read here. You can also find some great photography apps for iPhones here.

MAKE BLOGGING YOUR JOB.
There are bloggers who just blog as a hobby and also there are part & full time bloggers too. I class myself as a part-time blogger, only because I don't get a proper weekly wage with blogging but I am hoping one day I will and that is when I will class myself as a Full-time blogger. I really enjoy working on my blog. To me it is my hobby and a small (hard) job I do from home, it keeps me busy when the kids are in bed or school, even though I should be cleaning or doing some other housework! There are great tips on to quit your job to blog over at Oh So Amelia's blog which you can read here.

BLOGGING SPACE
I think every blogger agrees that we need our own space right? If you're anything like me then I have LOADS of papers everywhere. Unfortunately I don't have my own blogging office yet but I hope to have one soon since we have cleared under the stairs the other week. I currently use the dinning table in the dinning room! Luckily its at the back of the kitchen and there is a gate at the kitchen so the kids cant come in. We hardly ever use the dinning table for sit down meals, which I think we should start doing soon actually! Check out Debs' blogging space over at Super Busy Mum here.

KEEP GOING & BE PATIENCE
To be a Blogger you need patience and you need to work hard. There are times where you can't think of new posts to write or not in the 'blogging mood' for a while. You can read Liza's '5 Steps To Stay Motivated as a Blogger' post here.

SOCIAL MEDIA
You may need to think of setting up some Social Media's as that really does help with blogging to gain more followers and regular readers as you can keep your readers updated on new posts/giveaways. The most popular Social Media's are Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.

  3. These are some great tips. I've only been blogging since January, so these are very useful. I never even considered having a blogging space. I just drag my laptop wherever I go. But now I'm feeling inspired! #sharewithme

Glad that these tips are useful for you.
I think the more you blog, the more notebooks and papers you have so you need your own space. That is my opinion though! Every blogger is different.

  14. Hello, great post. I would add the interaction with other bloggers and readers.
I am blogging for more then 5 years, but only recently I am taking blogging seriously, and I noticed that there's bloggers that simply do not reply to the readers, mostly the bloggers that already have a big audience. #brilliantblogposts
