Our Christmas 2016

First of all, I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. I wasn't that excited for this year's Christmas, which I should have been because it was Freddie's first Christmas and both girls were super excited. However, I just couldn't get myself into the 'Christmas spirit.' Freddie was unwell for a week which meant I had no chance to wrap any presents up; I was very disorganized, and was stressing out every single day because I just didn't get have time to sort anything out ready for the big day. Luckily, as the week went by Freddie was slowly getting to his normal self, and we managed to wrap everything on Christmas Eve night. We wrapped until 1.45am - exhausting! Freddie had a terrible night and hardly slept. He was up screaming most of the night until around 5 am.

The girls woke up around 7.30-7.45 and they opened up their stockings. We all went downstairs by 8.15am, and I filmed the girls walking downstairs as I do, every year. The reactions of the girls were just priceless. The late night, the stress, everything else was worth it just to hear their reactions and see their smiles. They started opening their presents and were just so excited. I think we bought a bit too much, again as they did get a little bored of the 'little gifts' but loved the big gifts.

Late morning my partner's parents came over to see us, and they stayed for a bit while the girls were playing. After they had gone, we all decided to get ourselves dressed and ready to visit my partner's aunt and uncle down the road for a couple of hours. The girls had some gifts there which they were super excited about. After a couple of hours, we decided to head off to my partner's parents for Christmas dinner. Before dinner, we all opened our gifts there, and the girls had more presents.

After our dinner, we all relaxed for a bit before having a small game of Pie Face - which is a fantastic and fun game. The weather was dark, rainy and cold so we decided to call for a taxi to take us home because my partner had a drink. We all just relaxed when we arrived home. The girls played with their toys for a bit and then we decided to put them to bed because they were both shattered.

The next day we got up a little too late and had to rush getting ready because our plans had changed. Usually Mia will go to her Dad's around 3pm on boxing day from my Nain's house, but this year they wanted her earlier, before lunch. So I decided for 11.30, so she had a chance to see my side of the family and my aunty who was down for a few days from Cumbria. It was a shame that Mia went so early as she would have enjoyed herself. It was a lovely and fun day spent with my side of the family. We had a buffet tablet and played Pie Face too.

Christmas has been and gone for another year (again). I'd like to think I am more organised next year than I have been this year. I've got a few things planned and let's just hope I stick to them.
