Before having kids I was able to stay up until 1 or 2 in the morning, probably talking to my friends through MSN (remember that?) or just watching TV. I could sleep through pretty much anything, but I still like sleeping in the dark and have always struggled to sleep if there's light. Now that I have kids my sleep has completely changed. It's very safe to say that I am sleep deprived after not having a good night sleep for over 11 months now since Freddie was born. I was asked by Mattress Next Day if I find it difficult to sleep in complete silence, or if I am the opposite.
I wake up with the slightest noise. I am a very light sleeper, and I think it may be because I know my kids are sleeping in the other two rooms. It can be very annoying at times because even if I hear the slightest noise coming from outside, I will wake up. But on the other hand, it's handy because I will instantly wake up if I hear the kids whereas my partner is a heavy sleeper and will sleep through pretty much anything and everything.
As the infographic shows below it seems quite common that some people's sleep gets interrupted because of noise. I would love to be one of those people who can just blank out all kinds of noise. The noise that keeps me awake is my partner snoring, bed movements, my kids crying, small sounds from outside and even the sound of my kids moving in their bed as the bed can make a noise against the walls sometimes. It can be quite easy to stop my partner snoring as I'll just kick him and he'll soon stop!
What kind of sleeper are you?
