I am always on the lookout for new comfortable shoes for Freddie. He is 22 months old now, and I still think it’s important to find some comfortable and correct fitting shoes for him. At the moment he just has a couple of trainers and a couple of other shoes. A baby footwear brand, Dotty Fish, recently contacted me to see if I’d be interested in reviewing a pair of their shoes and to also share the importance of buying the correct fitting shoes for your babies/early walkers.
There are many places out there who sell the most adorable shoes for toddlers, but most of us by the wrong fitting or just the wrong kind of shoe. Dotty Fish have been working with The London Podiatry Centre which is one of the most advanced podiatric clinics in the world. Dotty Fish want to share the message on the benefits of babies and early walker wearing soft sole shoes. They are better for developing feet and did you know that a baby’s foot doubles in size between birth and the age of 4 years? Shockingly, by their first birthday, their foot is almost half the size it will be as an adult.
- When you’re looking for new shoes for your babies/toddlers/children, there are a few things to think about:
- Your baby’s/child’s food needs to be able to move naturally. So a flexible shoe would be best.
- Lightweight shoes help allow natural ankle, knee and hip movement.
- Wide around the toes to allow the feed to spread when standing
- Thin soled so when you child walks, their feet can grip the floor in the same way as they would be if they were barefoot.
- Making sure they are snug fit, not slipping off but not too tight either – so it doesn’t restrict growth or movement
- Breathable material is something to look into, as babies’ feet swear 2-3 times more than adults’ feet do

Dotty Fish have a fantastic range of soft soled shoes for ages newborn up to 5 years old. They have beautiful designs, and the quality of their shoes are fantastic. I like that most of their shoes are unisex and the adorable detailing on their shoes. I got the Fish design in age 2-3 years, and I love the fact that they will last a while on him too. There’s plenty enough room, but they are also a perfect snug fit on him too, enough room for his foot to grow naturally.
We were sent a pair of Dotty Fish shoes in return for an honest review post.
However, all words, images and opinions are our own.
