As a parent, you always want the best for your children. This includes being your best self that you possibly can be. Children will always want to go out and do fun things with the ones they love. If you are not feeling up to it or you have anxiety about venturing out then you should look into ways to resolve this.
Diet
This is a very important aspect of your life that you should be focusing on. If you lead an unhealthy lifestyle there are a few risks associated with it. For one it can lead to life-limiting conditions such as diabetes or heart disease. You also have to be wary that your children learn by copying and imitating what they see others doing. If your children see you eating unhealthy snacks and then you tell them to eat a carrot they may become defiant as they want what you have. If you struggle with your weight there are options available, such as gastric balloon procedures.
Following a healthy balanced diet is best and believe it or not is relatively easy. You can have cheat days that will allow you to have a takeaway or some yummy sweet treats. Drinking water will help a lot as well. You and your children should be aiming to drink between 1.5 - 2 litres of water each day.
Exercise
Exercise goes hand in hand with diet when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. When people think about exercise they always seem to think the worst. For example, running on a treadmill at full speed in the gym. This isn’t the case and having fun with your kids in the park could count as exercise. Grab a ball and have a game of footy with them or a game of tag. You all have fun and exercise together without even knowing it.
Think of fun active activities to do with your children, such as swimming or climbing.
Sleep
You may laugh as sleep doesn’t seem to exist much when you have kids but getting as much sleep as possible per night will really do wonders for your body and mind. As an adult, you should be aiming for at least 8 hours of solid sleep each night. Failure to get this can result in many things including irritability and problems with your concentration. Two things you don’t want to be dealing with when you have children to look after.
If you are struggling to sleep or settle at night and it has nothing to do with the children then finding out the cause could fix the issue. It may be due to anxieties or thoughts. It could even be something simple like an old lumpy mattress that you are sleeping on. If your mattress is older than 8 years of age look into replacing it as they only really ‘live’ for this amount of time.
Avoid stress
Finally, another one that may seem impossible with children. Avoiding stress can improve your life and mood significantly. If you have toxic friends then find a way to get rid of them out of your life. This will give you the boost that you need to take charge again. Work could also be causing you problems if you are able to think about looking for an easier less stressful job.
