Places To Visit In North Wales This Summer

Summer holidays is approaching... pretty fast. There are many things to do and places to visit in North Wales. North Wales is such a beautiful and stunning place to visit and live in. I have lived in North Wales all my life and I honestly love living here. There are many things to do as a family too and that is one reason to why I love living here.

Greenwood Forest Park
There are many things to do in Greenwood Forest Park. Ideally for children aged 3+. There is a café in the theme park but you can also bring your own packed lunch and eat it inside the café. There many things in the park to keep your children entertained. Greenwood Forest Park has been voted best family attraction for the 4th year running. They also do a few special events through the year. We were lucky enough to have the chance to do a review when they were doing a Halloween theme last October. You can read about our Greenwood Forest Park adventure here.

Welsh Mountain Zoo
You could easily spend the whole day in the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay. There are many animals too see such as penguins, seals, giraffes, tigers and much more. My girls have always enjoyed their time visiting here. I would advise to take a packed lunch and go on a nice day. There are many benches to sit on to enjoy your picnic. They also do special shows with the penguins and other animals. The views are stunning. It can get pretty busy during holiday seasons.

Gypsy Wood
Another great place for you to visit this Summer. Just in Bontnewydd just outside Caernarfon you will find Gypsy Wood. It is closed through some parts of the year so be sure to check the website before visiting. It can be very busy during holidays. Great fun for the whole family. There is a small café and a gift shop. I would advise to bring a packed lunch as there is a few benches in a park. So your children can go and play whilst you have a picnic. They have a few animals there such as rabbits, ponies and much more. There is also a little train ride your child can go on during your visit.

Rabbit Farm
If you love animals then this is the place to be. It's not huge but you can have a fantastic time visiting Rabbit Farm. You can hold the bunnies/rabbits and the puppies. But be sure if you or your child is going to hold any animals, to wash your hands afterwards. There are sink basins in sight, next to a toilet. If the weather is nice then your child can have a ride on a horse too.

Dinas Dinlle
If you like walking or just relaxing on the beach then Dinas Dinlle is a lovely place to visit when the weather is nice and warm. You can walk along the front and walk up a small-ish mountain too see some great and stunning views. The scenery is truly stunning. There is a park for children, along with a chip shop, indian restaurant, café, toilets and gift shop. Further down the road, you can walk or go by car there is the Caernarfon Airport. There is a café there and a small museum. This place is very popular for families during Summer time.

Beddgelert
Again, if you love going for a walk then this is a place for you and your family. Surrounded by great pubs that serve fantastic food and many gift shops and an ice cream shop you won't be hungry. If it's a nice day when you visit then you can take your own picnic. This place can be extremely busy during holiday time. Many families like to play in the water, have picnics and play football. Again, a lovely place with stunning views.

The Fun Centre, Caernarfon
This is a great place for all ages. There are two parts in this fun centre. One part for toddlers up to age 5 and then the bigger part of the Fun Centre is for 5+ years. There is also a café in the Fun Centre where parents can have a coffee or cup of tea whilst their children are playing. Although, I advise if you have children that will be playing in the toddler/young child area then I would stay in that part with them. There are seats for the parents. You can also book birthday parties there too. This place can be very busy during holiday times. If you wish to go there at a more quiet time, then maybe you could visit there during term time.

Caernarfon Castle
There are many things to do in Caernarfon. You could spend the whole day there. You can visit the castle which is a stunning and interesting place to visit. You can also have a walk around the castle which has a stunning view from the wall. There is a park and a skate park across the bridge. Which also has a big field so you could have a picnic or play football. There are many places to eat and shop around in Caernarfon too.

Penrhyn Castle
If you like to visit Castle's and interested in the olden days then this could be a great day out for your family. I really enjoy visiting Penrhyn Castle. It has huge land. There are many rooms in the Castle with old furniture which is very interesting too see. This is a 19th Century fantasy castle.

Snowdon Mountain Railway
If you don't fancy walking up Snowdon then there is a train to go up. There is a café right at the top {which my Taid helped building!}. The views when going up Snowdon are truly stunning, so remember to bring your camera.

Llandudno
There are many place to go in Llandudno. You can visit the Great Orme, which has fantastic views. There are quite a few things to do there and also a playground and a café there too, along with a railway, museum and family golf. There is a huge beach on the front of Llandudno which is lovely during the Summer. You can also find an outside pool for children and a pier with many activities for you and the children to do. There are also many shops and places to eat in Llandudno.

Llanberis
Llanberis has many things for families to do. There is a slate museum and slate quarry. You can go for a lovely walk around the lake. There is a playground for the children and many shops and places to eat too. You can also have a ride on a train whilst you're there too. Another stunning place to visit and can get busy during Summer time.

* There are many other places in North Wales that you can visit. These are just some of the amazing places and things you can do with your family. I have linked up website to each place so you find out more information about the place, along with the prices, how to get there and other information.

Have you visited any of these places? Or have you visited anywhere else in North Wales which I haven't mentioned? I would love to know.

  6. Oh I love this post! My family are all from Holyhead and I've visited Colwyn Bay many times. My favourite places are the Ugly house, the littlest house and Treaddurr Bay. It's made me all nostalgic now, I haven't been back for years. Thanks for linking in to PocoLo from guest host Ali @ Mum in a Nutshell
