Are you a new blogger? Or maybe you're thinking of entering the world of Blogging. Then this post may be useful for you. I am going to write a few things to guide and help you through your first few months of Blogging. When I started blogging over 2 years ago there wasn't any posts {that I saw} about helping new bloggers and I wish I had come across some instead of constantly messaging Kerry {OhSoAmelia} for help! I really do have to thank her for everything and for all the help.
If you are looking to get something out of your blog such as working with companies, writing sponsored posts and product reviews then it is not going to be easy. Blogging is hard. But you have to enjoy it. You have to want to do it for it to be successful. You can't be successful in something you don't enjoy.
What kind of blogger are you?
To start with you need to think about what kind of blog you are wanting to write. There are all kinds of blogs such as Parenting, Lifestyle, Pregnancy, Fashion, Beauty, Travel and so much more. You can have a mix just as long as you don't over-do it by confusing your readers{you can read more about that below}.
Do you want your Blog out there?
You need to think if you want to keep your blog just as a place to document day-to-day life and private or are you going to work extra hard to get your blog out there. Are you wanting people to read your blog daily/weekly? Are you wanting people to know more about you? Are you wanting to work a bit harder to get that blog out there and be recognised? There are some bloggers out there who have a very popular blog but keep their names and/or their children's names anonymous. That is totally your choice.
How?
There are many ways to get your blog 'out there' and get people recognising your blog. You may need to work daily on your blog to gain traffic/readers. If you want readers to come back to read your blog on a daily basis then I would advise you to post atleast 2 or 3 times a week {my opinion} and if you have more time then you could post daily or every other day. You need to show that you do enjoy your blog and make sure you are not doing it just for money or traffic. I have lost many interest in some blogs for posting and advertising too much sponsored posts.
- Social Media pages
- Facebook Groups
- Comment on other blogs
- Join Linkies
Ignore the trolls
I have noticed a few bloggers getting these recently. I have had one negative comment a few months ago. It did make me think if I should just quit blogging. But no. Don't let anyone make you feel that you want to quit. If it is something you want to do then keep at it and carry on doing what you do best. You are bound to come across some bloggers who do think they are pretty much better than every other blogger but we get that in the 'real world' too don't we? Just ignore and carry on.
Be honest
You need to be completely honest on your blog. There is no point trying to be someone you're not. Share how you are feeling, share your adventures or what you do on a typical day. That is what most bloggers like to read.
You want to start working as a Blogger?
My advise first is to just write your blog to document your life and/or your childrens life first then slowly get into that world of blogging where you can work for companies. Because if I am honest, it doesn't come over night. You may need to blog for atleast 1 or 2 years before you get your first e-mail to review a product or write a sponsored post. I got my first sponsored post when my blog was roughly 1 years old. I had my first product review roughly 5 or 6 months in.
- You need traffic
- You need to organised
Be yourself
If you are thinking or starting as a Blogger my main tips for you is just be yourself. Be honest. Blogging is not an easy job. It can take up a lot of your time through out the day and nights. You may even get the 'Bloggers Mind' where you just think of posts all day! It can get quite annoying, just to warn you!
Are you a new blogger? Do you think I covered most point about helping out a newly blogger?
