Freddie - 4 Month Update

This day, 12 whole months ago, I found out I was pregnant. I remember the day like it was yesterday. I was sitting in the dining room, blogging, I stopped typing and I just had that strange feeling that I needed to do one last pregnancy test (after many negatives). I went to do the school run as normal, but I popped into the chemist on my way. When I arrived home, I went straight to do the test and a few minutes later, there it was; two lines. I was pregnant!

Now, today, my little boy is 4 months old. I honestly can not believe that Freddie is 4 months old already. It doesn't seem that long ago that I wrote his birth announcement. The past 4 months have just been amazing and I am so excited for his first Christmas and our first Christmas as a family of 5. It doesn't feel like he's only just been with us for 4 months, it feels longer. I can't imagine life without him now.

After a lot of thinking and talking with the Health Visitor, I decided to wean Freddie early. He started about 2 weeks ago and if you count their age through weeks, then he would have been 4 months last week but I count it by the date each month (if that makes sense?). He has been having baby porridge once a day, usually in the evenings, and he loves it. He's always full of smiles when he is having his porridge. I've tried him with pureed apple and strawberry, but he hated it. I don't blame him though, because it was rank! He also didn't like pureed cauliflower (that was rank too!). I had to stop him on the porridge for a couple of evenings because I thought it was giving him a tummy ache but I put him back and he's been feeling fine since.

He can still roll from his tummy to his back and he loves doing it. But he also loves his tummy time. He's got brilliant head control and the Health Visitor has always been impressed with the stregnth of his head and his strength in general too. He loves lying on his back on his Fisher Price Rainforest play gym and recently we got the jumperoo out, which was supposed to be a Christmas present, but oh well, he absolutely loves it. He is taking a lot of notice of the toys on the jumperoo, his play gym and the toys hanging of his pram.

Freddie recognises certain people such as his Dad, his sisters and myself. When he hears Mia's and Elliw's voices, his head looks around and his eyes pop open. It's so adorable that he recognises his sisters' voices. He loves them so much and their bond is just amazing. Mia is still motherly towards him and loves having cuddles with him. She loves trying her best to keep him happy when he's upset and still helps me in the mornings, by looking after him in my bed when I get ready in the school mornings. Elliw is also fantastic with him but I have to be looking over just incase, as she can be heavy handed with him and not realise it. It's not her fault, she tries her best with him. They're both so amazing with him and I feel lucky to have 3 amazing children.

His sleeping routine has gone back to how it used to be. He had missed the 1-2am feeds but he's back at waking up at that time. We co-sleep which can be a pain at times, but I do love it. From 1-2am he will feed on and off through the night while he sleeps next to me until he wakes up around 7am. He still doesn't sleep much during the day, unless he is in the pram but sometimes he won't sleep that long in the pram either. He will take his naps during the school runs at 9am and 3pm. He will sometimes take a nap around 11am but not very often.

Freddie weighed 17lbs 1oz at 16 weeks. He's currently in 3-6 months clothes but I think I am going to get the 6-9 months clothing out in the next couple of weeks. I love him in sleepsuits and cosy joggers and a top. He's hardly ever in jeans unless there's an occasion (which isn't often at all). I've also loved putting cosy slippers on him, they look so adorable on him.

These 4 months have been amazing and I can't wait for the next few months.
